Important Notice To Returning Students

Yesterday, most of us received messages from Ebsu telling Us to update our levels on the portal before printing any invoice/receipt for example, payment of school fees online and printing of the receipt, etc. Now this is very important because I have gotten information that some students made various mistakes and paid school fees online for the wrong year E.g, they forgot to update their current level on the portal and proceeded to pay fees not knowing that it was for their past level. Now this mistake can be rectified but it takes time and a lot of processes and knowing EBSU, they have not yet embraced the whole digital age so simple things take them time so please endeavor to be most careful and precise so as not to make a mistake for your own sake, and not for Ebsu. Below is a copy of the message

Dear Returning Student,
Ensure that you update your level in the portal before proceeding to generate your invoice. This is very urgent and must be adhered to.

School Resumes

I posted on Monday about school resuming and a letter they dated to that effect which was pasted on the school notice board. I talked about how there demands were ludicrous and they should consider us but this fell on deaf ears as none of our students seem to care of the severity of this notice. Only when they start enforcing it or actually add extra ten thousand on the normal fees for late payment are most of us going to acknowledge the injustice in this system. Our mates in federal schools pay less than us and they are given ample time to clear their debts but in Ebsu, NO! You either pay or go to hell. You will be advised to withdraw for a year or more, depending on your capabilities. Nobody cares. Let us all join hands and fight this system. South African students protested last week on the hike in there school fees. It garnered world headlines and there voices were heard. The school had no option but too reduce the school fees with immediate effect. The power of aluta! Here in Nigeria, or Ebsu, when we try to fight for our rights, we are arrested. Two years back Ebsu second year students protested the non reduction of their school fees. Some were arrested, and the school Was on indefinite strike for 2months. They came back and were met with various sanctions. Sad day for aluta. Sad day for education in Nigeria. If Ebsu implements what was written on the memo pasted in school, I'm afraid lots of students will drop. Is that the best? We appeal to them to give us time, that is all we ask. Janury is close already. Aluta Continua!!!

Ebsu calendar for 2015/2016 session

Ebonyi state university has released its academic calendar for the 2015/2016 session. Now in as much as I applaud them because the  new calendar highlights some new improvements like a faster school calendar; in the sense that we can now compete with our mates in other schools when it comes to resumption and closure of school, I can't help but point out some very impossible feats on this calendar
One of such impossible feats is the "End of payment/online registration" which is scheduled for 28/11/2015. Now this is near to impossible to achieve. Most parents don't view school academic calendar as we do. To them, school resumes officially in January. So telling a parent that just finished payment of school fees by April that they are supposed to cough up another fees by November is nothing if not laughable. By Nov, parents have only Christmas in view. After Christmas, then they are back to a relaxed frame of mind by January. Business as usual becomes the order of the day. So my fellow students, help me appeal to our SuG and other relevant student bodies incharge of this to help talk to school authorities. Ebsu school fees is exorbitant already as it is. They should please exercise patience. January is months away. We will be ready then.
